Studying NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employment Skills has really helped prepare me for work. I didn't have much confidence before and didn't really know what I wanted to do when I left school or how to get a job. My personal tutor suggested I enrol on the Level 1 Employment Skills course and I'm so glad I did.

The course tutor was really encouraging and helped me decide first of all what kind of job I wanted to do - I hadn't really thought about what suited me before. I've gained really practical skills such as where to look for a job and what to include in applications and covering letters, and most importantly I've learnt how to prepare for interviews. I'd never had an interview before and the thought really scared me, but the course helped to think about the types of questions I might get asked and what answers I should give.

After I finished the course I had the confidence to start applying for jobs. I had an interview for a sales assistant job, and although it was still scary, I felt much more prepared and managed to answer all the questions.  I was really happy to get the job - I don't think I could have done it without the Employment Skills qualification.
