Apprenticeships are a mixture of work-based training and education. The Apprenticeship frameworks are designed by Sector Skills Councils or Standard Setting Bodies. Becoming an apprentice allows learners to have a job, to earn a wage and to receive structured training in their chosen occupation. Learners can be fully employed or in a work placement.
Apprenticeship frameworks differ from sector to sector. They mainly include an NVQ, Technical Certificate, Key Skills and coverage of Employment Rights and Responsibilities. We currently offer the following NVQs which can be used within Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship frameworks:
• NCFE Level 2 NVQ in Spectator Safety
• NCFE Level 3 NVQ in Spectator Safety
• NCFE Level 2 NVQ in Instructing Exercise and Fitness
• NCFE Level 3 NVQ in Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise
• NCFE Level 2 NVQ in Advice and Guidance Support
• NCFE Level 3 NVQ in Advice and Guidance
• NCFE Level 2 NVQ Health and Social Care
• NCFE Level 3 NVQ Health and Social Care

Technical Certificates are vocationally-related qualifications which deliver much of the underpinning knowledge and understanding relevant to an NVQ.
Technical Certificates can be delivered through a taught programme of ‘off the job' learning, and permit a structured approach to the teaching and assessment of the underpinning knowledge and understanding of an NVQ (or a suite of related NVQs).
NCFE currently has the following qualifications approved as Technical Certificates:
• NCFE Level 3 Certificate for the Outdoor Industry
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Customer Service for Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employment Skills
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Industry Studies
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor Activity Leadership
• NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sports Coaching.
Technical Certificates may be fundable under the Train to Gain funding initiative.
